Contribution of Young Generation in Empowering Potential Attractions in 'Hometown’

According to data from Trip Advisor, Bali is ranked 4th out of the 10 best destinations in the world after Paris, London and Rome. This achievement is one of the motivating factors for the development of tourism in Bali. The development of tourism in Bali is not only the duty of the government, but also our duty as the young generation. As the young generation of our nation, we can contribute in developing and empowering the potential of tourism objects that we can start from a relatively small scope, such as in terms of empowering the potential of tourism objects in our own 'Hometown'.
Tourism in Bali is currently more concentrated in the southern regions of Bali, so that other regions such as the West Bali region are less concerned by the government. It would be better if the government does not only focus on development and empowerment of tourist objects in the southern Bali region, because it is still a tourist attraction in other areas that can be developed, for example the tourist attraction of Palasari Dam located in Jembrana Regency.
Palasari Jembrana Dam can be an alternative tourist choice as a fun refresing place. This dam was built in April 1986 and was inaugurated on July 23rd, 1989 by President Soeharto. As a reservoir of water reserves, Palasari Dam is very beneficial for local residents if the dry season comes especially for irrigating rice fields.

Having a land area of 100 hectares, Palasari Dam can accommodate up to 8 million cubic meters of water. Many freshwater fish that live freely on this dam are like: nile tilapia, carp, tilapia fish, snakehead fish, cat fish, etc. Not surprisingly, anglers  often spend time fishing in the Palasari Dam. In addition to the favorite places for anglers, you can also rent small canoes to navigate the entire dam area. Set in green scenery and cool air, this location is perfect for refresing tired. Other activities that are quite extreme can also be done here, namely motor cross and off road. Here you can channel your hobbies in the world of motor cross because there is a motorbike crossing around the dam. There is even a regular schedule for the motor cross competition in Palasari Dam.

The livelihoods of the surrounding community are farmers and raising livestock. This can be seen along the road with many stretches of rice fields. The green scenery of the rice fields also adds to the beauty of the Palasari Dam. The next activity that is not less exciting can be done in Palasari Dam. Jembrana is hunting photos. With the background of the largest dam on the island of Bali, you will be able to get very interesting photos. This is another attraction of this dam.

In this area there is also a church that is quite unique, namely the Palasari Church. The uniqueness of the Palasari Church, which is commonly used for Christian religious rituals, has buildings and ritual ceremonies thick with Balinese customs. The church building combines gothic architecture with Balinese architecture, so that it looks unique and sacred. Even though it is old, the conditions in the Palasari Church building are still very good and look modern. At the entrance of the courtyard, a gate is needed, like a gate on a temple or an entrance to houses in Bali.

Various advantages of this Palasari Dam tourist destination are able to make this tourist attraction one of the most popular tourist attractions when visiting Bali. However, very few people know the attraction. If viewed in terms of aesthetics and geographical location, this location must be perfect for tourism attractions in Bali island. But sadly, promotion in this tourist attraction is still very minimal, so many tourist objects do not understand this attraction.
The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism in 2018 has made a program to increase the number of tourists in Indonesia. In this case the government in Bali, attracts young people to participate in achieving the targeted Vision. Pesona Indonesia Generation (GENPI) Bali fully supports the programs that have been set by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism.
GENPI (Generation of Enchantment Indonesia) is a community that is social or volunteer that will promote Indonesian tourism. GENPI is a motorbike for tourism promotion consisting of bloggers, vlogers, journalists, photographers, travelers, so that this community has a big influence especially on social media. They will play an active role through social media introducing various hidden tourist destinations in Indonesia so that tourists visit. The contribution of the young generation is not only limited to the field of promotion of tourism objects, but can be done with a variety of concrete actions in terms of developing tourism objects. Various efforts can be made by the young generation to increase the development of tourism objects, for example the contribution of the younger generation in terms of maintaining cleanliness and sustainability of tourist objects, promoting tourism objects, and some of them.
The smallest thing we can do as a young generation to increase tourism in Bali is to maintain the cleanliness and preservation of these tourist objects, for example when we are traveling to various tourist objects, we should dispose of garbage in the trash that has been provided at the tourist attraction. This may indeed seem trivial, but this will also have a positive impact on tourism in Bali. Of course tourists will feel comfortable when vacationing in a clean and well-maintained tourist attraction, and this can certainly be one of the things that affects the increasing number of tourists who come to Bali.(Agustiani Rahayu-MBP 5B-15)
