Tanjung Benoa is not only famous for watersports but also has cultural tourism. At Tanjung Benoa there are also three cultures namely Hindu, Islam and Chinese. At Tanjung Benoa there are have temples for Hinduism, mosques for Islam and pagoda  for Chinese, called  Pagoda Caow Eng Bio

Pagoda Caow Eng Bio located at Segara Ening street, Tanjung Benoa ,Nusa Dua Bali.
Caow Eng Bio is one of  Bali’s oldest Chinese temples. Locally referred to simply as Klenteng Tanjung Benoa by locals, Caow Eng Bio is an impressive historical landmark that’s worth a visit while in Tanjung Benoa. It’s one of the very few cultural and historical attractions of it’s kind in the area. The Chinese temple is an interesting local sightseeing spot, and offers a good break from the water sports that Tanjung Benoa is better known for.

Take the Segara Ening street from the Catus Pata crossroads, then follow the road until it’s end with the temple on the right-hand side. The temple stands majestically in front of its spacious front yard. It’s bright red and ornate walls frame a wooden entrance painted with fearsome war deities. Stepping inside, you’ll immediately see it’s main building in beautiful Chinese architecture, which houses the prayer rooms with a large ash cauldron on pedestals and gigantic red candles.   You will also see wooden plaques bearing several scripture verses of wisdom in Chinese and Indonesian, as well as names engraved in marble in honour of those who have contributed in building the Caow Eng Bio Chinese temple. Celebrations and religious events are held up to three days here, but the holy days of Chinese New Year and Vesak are busiest of all. Entry is free and donations are welcome. Pieces of paper next to the donation box are given away to all visitors. They’re believed to be a token of gratitude and a charm of good fortune for both your house and your wallet.

This temple was founded by Hainan merchants who sailed to the archipelago. When passing through the Straits of Malacca, they were robbed so many were killed, the rest continued their journey to the archipelago. On the way, their ship was hit by a storm, but there was a soothing voice so that they did not panic. The voice is believed to be the voice of Dewa Baruna. When one of the ships turned on the hio, the storm subsided so that the whole ship promised to make a stana for Dewa Baruna after they arrived on the mainland. The ship finally leaned on Tanjung Benoa then they built the Caow Eng Bio Temple. Ornaments from this temple are very unique with a large area. Across from the Caow Eng Bio temple there is a theater building next to which there is a small temple for dragon boats.

If you go to the Pagoda Caow Eng Bio it's only 30minute from Ngurah Rai International Airport. It’s open start from 08.00am until 21.00pm. Don’t worry about facilities, because we provide Rest room for guest, Cafe and restaurant such as Surya CafĂ©. The uniqueness of the architectural design possessed by the oldest temple on the island of Bali can be an attractive means of photo hunting. Moreover, this stretch is open enough for anyone to visit. The managers do not limit visits olny to tourists who adhere to Konghuchu or Buddhist religion. However, tourist who are muslim, christian or Hindu are also allowed to enter the temple area. You can also visit this place for free.  And if you chinese people you can pray in there. And that place can be used for pre wedding photos. And if you are  lucky you will see the Barongsai dance, Barongsai dance is usually held during Chinese New Year and Vesak.
