Taman Pancing River
A New Pro-Society Tourism
Alternative
Bali is one of the provinces in Indonesia. Bali
is so widely known by local and foreign tourists because of the beauty of
nature or culture. The forerunner of tourism in Bali is Kuta, Sanur and Ubud.
Nowadays, tourism of Bali is more focused on Badung Regency, especially Kuta
and Nusa Dua. However, the government of Denpasar City is now starting to
develop its area which has the potential as a new tourism alternative in
addition to the attractions in the Sanur area. One of them is the development
of rivers that flow in the area of Denpasar City.
The Government of Denpasar City continues to improve the
cleanliness of the river flow in Denpasar City. Structures and riverbanks have
been structured, from cleanliness, infrastructure, to empowering local village
communities to strive to realize a clean river. Some of the rivers that have
been managed by the government of Denpasar city include Tukad Badung (Jalan
Gajah Mada), Tukad Tagtag, Tukad Bindu, Tukad Pengembak Sanur, and Tukad Badung
flow area in Pemogan Village, South Denpasar District as a downstream area. The
downstream area of Tukad Badung in Pemogan Village precisely in the Taman
Pancing area is now a new alternative tourist area in Denpasar City. Taman
Pancing road is a suburb which is the border between Denpasar City and Badung
Regency. This road is an alternative route to Simpang Dewa Ruci. This
downstream area is then often called the Taman Pancing River.
Crossing Jalan Taman Pancing, anglers will be found along the
Taman Pancing River. Usually the angler directly sells the results of the
fishing rod to the people who visit there. The Taman Pancing River is like a
river in general, but there are things that make it different, namely the river
is flanked by a green riverbank and overgrown with shady trees. With this green
bank, it is widely used by the surrounding community. Every afternoon, this
river will usually be visited. There are just hanging out with friends or
family, juggling training, ‘lesehan’ while enjoying food or beverage, even
usually every Sunday is used as a yoga place by a group of people.
For those who like to exercise, this riverbank can be a new
sporting place because it is equipped with facilities such as jogging tracks.
Every day, morning or evening jogging track is always crowded. For people who
come, there is no need to worry if they feel hungry or thirsty because there
are many small traders along Jalan Taman Pancing. Other facilities available
are provided by trash bins which are distinguished between organic and
non-organic and prohibited waste disposal signs to support government programs
in maintaining river cleanliness. The surrounding community or people who just
came to visit the river participated because they were facilitated. The
cleaning of the river flow is also still being carried out by the Denpasar City
Government.
On the banks of the Taman Pancing River downstream is also
used by the surrounding community as a place to hold events such as wedding
receptions, venues held by communities around both the banks and rivers to play
canoes, as well as making mini concerts because of the river’s banks is quite
extensive. For those who like futsal sports, you can rent a futsal field
located on the edge of Jalan Taman Pancing, which is equipped with beverage
stands and after playing futsal, you can rest on the banks of the river while
breathing in the afternoon air. The view from the Taman Pancing River is also
so beautiful. if you look oversouth, you can see the magnificent of Garuda
Wisnu Kencana statue and when you look overnorth, you can see the majestic of
Agung Mountain in the morning with the cool air.
Taman
Pancing River become one of the affordable entertainment venues with quite
complete facilities because it is free of charge in the midst of the expensive
entertainment in Denpasar. So that with the development of this river as a
tourist alternative, it is expected to have a positive impact on the community
or the environment itself both in the economic and social environment. (Kadek Emi Juliartini/MBP 5D/20)
